Associated Credits Limited was formed in 1952 by John Calverley, a television retailer, to fund the emerging requirements for television rental.
After a very successful 20 year trading period and realising that the television rental market was approaching saturation, in 1972 the Directors appointed a new management team. They were charged with expansion into the burgeoning vehicle, plant, machinery and equipment leasing business.
ACL became a pioneer of vehicle leasing for small businesses and the Company developed a network of clients across North West England. They developed a unique approach to tax efficient vehicle funding which remains as relevant today as it was then. They were flattered when many of the national Banks and finance companies finally adopted similar schemes.
The eighties saw the Company adapt and really appreciate the business vehicle market. They began to supply more and more vehicles as greater levels of service was demanded within the industry. ACL were at the forefront of the supply and finance philosophy. Providing heavily discounted vehicles, highly competitive funding with exceptional levels of service. The same philosophy the company maintains to this day.
In the early nineties brothers Mark and Russell Whiting, the current Directors of the company, were appointed to develop the business further whilst maintaining the Company's tradition. A dedicated sales team was established many of whom are still with the Company today. Vehicle disposal was introduced to create the 'complete' package. Clients now had the peace of mind knowing that ACL could supply, fund and dispose of their vehicles as required whilst maintaining a personal relationship with one representative of the Company irrespective of make or model of vehicle required.
At this time the Company also expanded its consumer finance business which enabled the same level of service and attention, for individuals. Hire Purchase, Lease Purchase, Personal Contract Purchase, Lease and Personal Contract Hire are all available personally. ACL is fully compliant and authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
More recently the Company has also provided finance for property development and professional fee funding.
Based in the offices in North Manchester where the Company began, their client portfolio is now national covering the whole of the United Kingdom. They are extremely proud that the majority of new business introductions still come to them by way of recommendation from existing clients.
The Company today remains an independently owned, family run business with dedicated and long serving staff, some of whom have been with the company for over 30 years.
ACL looks forward to being of service to all their current and future clients for, at least, a further 60 years!
